Haibike Yamaha - battery replacement options

Featured Replies

Is there any info about the quality of the 614Wh version or even bigger 745Wh version? https://www.akkuman.de/shop/e-bike-akku-power-pack-36-volt-207ah-745ah-fuer-yamaha-pw-x-und-pw-series-se-te-rahmen-unterrohr

Would like a bigger battery but dont wanna spend 850€ on c***p. Tear-a-part photos/videos?

Yes, I would like a bigger wattage battery, who will be first to buy one and report back.

Some customer feedback (in german) https://www.akkushop.de/de/power-pack-fuer-yamaha-pw-x-und-pw-series-se-te-rahmen-unterrohr-36-volt-207ah-max.-745wh/

No real news about performance yet but the charging plug does not lock-on so there is a little problem with it.

I have original 400Wh battery and I can ride my 29er about 30km offroad or 40km onroad with it (or 1-2 hours). This is with high speed / STD setting on Yamaha. The battery is one year old, performs as new but the 400Wh is a bit limiting. My bike does not have speed restriction so the mileage is poor due to fast speeds. With the limiter I think the range was 60-100km so the difference is huge regarding energy consumption.

If the 745Wh is really 745 then it should be possible to drive ~55km offroad/ 74km onroad (or +2hours) :)

Bought a cheap 13Ah 36V lithium battery - turns out to be set up for Yamaha bikes.

I'm in the process of replacing the BMS PCB , charging and output connectors to suit cheap Chinese ebike.

Found this and the German site very useful and would like to repay the help given by offering these surplus bits FOC to whoever wants them - 1st come 1st served.

Karl.

Once you disconnect the BMS it will be dead and of no use.

Is that really right (I know you know more than I do)? It would probably be dead as a Yamaha battery, but surely it would still be OK with appropriate BMS as a generic battery?

... Ah, I think you are saying the BMS will be dead and no use, not the battery ... Posting anyway in case anybody else misinterpreted it.

Yes the BMS will die once it is disconnected they need to have a power supply connected to keep them alive. The battery it self will be fine with any generic BMS for other uses.
Does that mean that Yamaha have designed their BMS with a self-distract function?

if it is the same as bosch the bms is smart and has software running on it to talk to the motor and display so if it looses power the bms is then a bin job.

the bms must remain powerd when doing a recell job jimmy can do this but the bms must be working and charging.

Like Bosch call it anti tamper so that you can't mix and match components or carry out repairs.
