March 1Mar 1 Wow Death trap . I was in Germany last week. I got caught very bad weather a blizzard coming in overnight which I finish my journey to Frankfurt when we work in total White House and I had to get back to the UK. Unlike the UK, Germans quite used to it and and has sorted and cleared the autobans Quite well, but still one would’ve thought they would’ve been patches a black ice, especially going through high regions. Well I was amazed that idiots still wanted to drive their BMW Mercedes and other high-powered cars at 130 mph plus and it was no surprise to me when we were caught in a jam as one such Mercedes that caused the pile up absolute madness. Why do we need to go fast all the time when you’re still get to where you’re going a few minutes later?

I am currently doing a rebuild on a Raleigh Array step through for a priest at my wife’s local church as his bike was stolen !!! He at first wanted a throttle and more power for off road mistakenly believing it was ok until I pointed out it was illegal unless he was on private land . So we have settled on the 250W Bafang motor originally designed for a Pendalton Somerby 15amp KT 17.5 Yose rear rack battery 36v All terrain tyres gravel /pavement not sure if he intends to ride off road in his vestments or robes but it would be unfortunate if he was to get a pull and lose his bike if he was !!!! He still wants the 4MPH thumb throttle so I think I will get him the SVA and get the 15MPH for him to be on the safe side .

The KT controller has some unique features for throttle that are completely legal. I'd try it first before worrying about SVA.

I see this is interesting but do you think a traffic cop would understand this. So again what you mean is ghost peddling without any resistance or torque whist using the throttle is still using the pedals when in fact it’s the e throttle that’s powering the bike . And when you stop peddling the throttle will only power up to 4MPH ?

March 8Mar 8 What isn't permitted is a full acting stand alone thumb speed control device aka twist and go from a standing start beyond 6km/h. How can one be prosecuted if the twist and go doesn't propel one beyond 6km/h without pedaling ? The law is clear no matter what a plod may think. Make sure the bike motor is 250w continuous rated and a label is applied .
