1. Sorry Motoroaming, but I won't be getting any other variant of 20" in for a while as I have 4 other styles of folder/compact available currently. http://www.onbike.co.uk/electric-bikes-category/folding-electric-bikes/
2. Hi Motoroaming, The handlebars DO twist around out of the way...see the Video attached.... Just so you know the Pony is on order, and will be in the shop within 3-4 weeks if anyone wishes to view one.Edit* comes with proper mudguards as standard.
3. The Bluelabel Pony is driven by the Performance motor, so will offer almost unrivalled hill climbing on the 20" wheels, and is a high quality bike as you'd expect from Riese and Muller, also using the Alfine Hub...unfortunately we don't currently have a Pony in stock i'm afraid. They take about 6-10 weeks for delivery, as they are built to order, but are well worth the wait if feasible. The Ave MH-7 is a cracking little bike as well (though i've only ridden the Classic powered models)....new versions of the MH-7 and MH-7le with the Active motor should be available within the next couple of weeks.
4. I use Sports Tracker...mainly because you can add pics that are marked on the map. It is anomalous with top speeds occasionally..i've clocked some 135 mph records, but generally seems ok. Just replotted the exact route on Strava and mapmyride to compare, and it looks as though Artstu is correct about it being innaccurate:(...it comes in at a dissappointing 3849 ft on Strava, and an even worse 2940 ft on mapmyride. Bizzarely, all the mileages are coming in as correct in relation to the Bosch display though at 64 miles, give or take a small discrepancy due to my plotting. I have run Sports Tracker and Strava simultaneously before, and had almost exact returns from them though...maybe I need to use a Mio GPS or similar rather than my HTC M8 phone?
5. Lol...I'll not be doing that ride again on an ebike, let alone on a conventional!!! With regards to Altitude, I've no idea if it's correct or not, but the black country is pretty hilly in certain areas, and I can barely walk up stairs today, so it feels about right:)
6. Had a mixed ride out today....hot and sunny one minute, then freezing, grey and raining the next. Don't mind too much, as I just need to get out on the bike whenever I can. Today's jaunt had a purpose though..... to see how many miles I could get from my ebike on one full charge. I chose a fairly mixed route, beginning with a few hills, a bit of City centre followed by a fair bit of Canal. I prepped the Scott e-Aspect 710 with a full 400wh Battery, 55psi in the Tyres, a bit of cash, a Smartphone and puncture repair and set out with the intention of reaching The Mailbox in Birmingham, and returning via the Worcester/Birmingham Canal to Tardebigge then via road home. Bosch performance, in Eco mode with 6,628 ft of climbing= 64 miles. Bearing in mind that the Battery has now done 1893 miles, and is one year old, I think that's quite good! I literally just made it to the end of my road when the display showed no further range expected, and left one bar of battery showing which was about to expire.... I got lost on the way, which isn't that unusual for me, as I refer to no maps on the way and just head off...this time I got rather irritated with my Redditch diversion though...a road network that is highly unpleasant to ride in my opinion. My thighs cramped up simultaneously towards the end of the ride, which is the first time it's happened to me...and to be honest,I'd really had enough for one day by then...a quick Marathon bar, and some Lucozade with the Ducks, and I gathered just enough energy to get me home. So, what's the best mileage the rest of you have achieved on one charge, how big is your Battery etc. ?
7. http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/raleigh-motus-crossbar/ ...and we have these due in imminently: http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/ktm-macina-fun/ ....for a bit more money: http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/scott-e-sub-tour-10-men/
8. Cow

martinonbike replied to SRS's topic in General Chat
I (rather embarassingly) have a genuine fear of Cows, and have often had to alter my course to avoid them. Trouble is, I think that some Farmers tend to let the Cattle congregate around Public Footpaths on purpose to discourage access through their land.... over time I 've seen Footpaths almost dissappear from lack of use, because the Cattle has churned the access up so badly into a quagmire that people stop using them. They always seem to put the feeder/water troughs in the middle of the paths.
9. Nah, most spokes are made from Stainless Steel. http://www.sapim.be/spokes (and Sheldon says....) "Spokes The material of choice for spokes is stainless steel. Stainless is strong and will not rust. Cheap wheels are built with chrome-plated ("UCP") or zinc-plated ("galvanized") carbon-steel spokes which are not as strong, and are prone to rust. The leading brands of spokes available in the U.S. market are DT and Wheelsmith. Titanium is also used for spokes, but, in my opinion it is a waste of money. Titanium spokes should only be used with brass nipples, and the combination is not significantly lighter than stainless spokes with aluminum nipples. http://sheldonbrown.com/images/IMG0071adjustedwbgsm.jpgCarbon fiber spokes have been available, but turned out to be brittle and dangerous. If you bend one, it breaks like uncooked spaghetti! Carbon fiber, aluminum alloy and polycarbonate plastic spokes all have to be thicker than steel spokes, and the added air resistance slows you down more than the weight saving speeds you up -- unless you only ride uphill." I'd like to think that the old broken spoke issue on the BH rear motors has been resolved now, after several instances of them breaking and having to be replaced/repaired. It looks like they're finally getting their act together in terms of producing a bike that is ready to be ridden without too much fettling out of the box. Better diagnostics, faster service so far this year.....I do hope it continues as they are capable of producing nice bikes as proven with the Panasonic powered bikes that still stand the test of time.
10. Not seen one of these yet...wonder where they've hidden the second controller? http://www.bhbikes.com/en/bicycles/ebikes/evo-snow-29--ev775.html
11. Haha...I just knew someone would pick up on that! I actually did have to fix the flymo before I cut it....I strongly dislike gardening, as you never get to the end of it.
12. Had a really enjoyable ride today 34.75 miles....mostly Tarmac country lanes, but plenty of off road too and some Canal Towpaths! First proper ride out since a strip down and rebuild (other than commutes), bike performed flawlessly.
13. Hi Croxden, Please don't give up on your Haibike! Bring it in at your convenience and I'll sort it all out for you...we can revert back to Intuvia from Nyon if you prefer it as well.
14. I think It'll be down to your handlebar position....you've gone from steering over the centre of the wheel to now steering from behind the centre of the top of the steerer tube....if you put a short stem on to pull it in front of the steerer, I think you'll feel a difference....or at least straight bars in line.( you could even rotate your bars to rake forward and see if it makes a difference as a first port of call) Looks like you'll be pushing to steer rather than pulling.
15. You're welcome to come and have a play anytime Mike, but I don't think you'll be needing a new bike for many years to come! When you bring in the Haibike for free servicing you can take a Shimano out for a spin....
16. Had our first in December, and been selling steadily since: http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/scott-e-sub-tour-20-men/ http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/scott-e-sub-tour-20-unisex/ These are due in Imminently: http://www.ktm-bikes.at/en/bikes/e-bike.html?action=bike_details&bike_id=13056&cHash=a2356915b1ea2281c21331e93cc12602 http://www.ktm-bikes.at/en/bikes/e-bike.html?action=bike_details&bike_id=14336&cHash=a25f649a71fae9168242f651702613fb
17. You could always get a Koga with a Bosch motor..... ....or a Koga Ion with 40nm motor instead of the previous 28nm. http://www.onbike.co.uk/electric-bikes-category/koga-electric-bikes
18. Crikey Mike, that doesn't sound too good at all! As D8ve has said, please go and get the all clear from the Doc's.
19. Thanks Mike, it's good of you to say I look forward to seeing your posts on the Offroad section coming soon!
20. The Shimano isn't underpowered at all, just not as punchy as Yamaha or Bosch which I tend to compare against on my rides.
21. It feels solid, but uninspiring for active riding-I'd imagine it would tick along all day doing it's job admirably in a similar way to the 26v Panasonics, but with a slightly more agricultural feel. Nice system at a reasonable price, and is definitely lighter than it's counterparts....will really shine when combined with the Di2 as a hassle free package. Small silly point, but I really like the gentle whine from the motor.....just don't like the noise of the gearchange on the Di2.
22. We have 2 in the shop, though not with integrated gear change ... http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/scott-e-sub-tour-20-men/ http://www.onbike.co.uk/electricbikes/scott-e-sub-tour-20-unisex/
23. I'm afraid not Martin, as it was last week and we just cleared and updated after showing the customer. There was no Dongle on the bike, and the customer had never used one, though it was a second hand purchase. It could be unrelated to Dongles...I was simply highlighting the fact that the system had indeed picked up on a speed sensor anomaly as an "Illegal Modification" and could be picking up the use of one. As I said, I had not seen this before either, but I can assure it was there. I have no axe to grind, and have no problem with customers using their bikes as they wish, though OnBike does not supply dongles. With regards to the software version, I don't use it that frequently so don't know off by heart, but will certainly have a look next time, as maybe it does indeed need updating to a more recent version.
24. I was performing a diagnostic and update last week on a Bosch Active, and the software prompted me that the speed sensor had had an "illegal modification". It would appear that it does show up on the diagnostics after all....This was a second hand bike not purchased from OnBike. First time i've seen this. I don't see why any Dealer would feel the need to try and "wriggle out of a warranty claim", as they are fulfilled by Bosch and don't cost the dealer anything other than 10 mins work which can be claimed back if necessary.
