Sorry - I just don't think that's what I'm looking for. But thanks for being the first Dealer to make a suggestion.:)

The trade members are actually not supposed to be making suggestions of their own bikes as its seen as advertising, unless specifically asked about their bikes, or its a question in another thread where they are allowed. Otherwise you'd just find your whole thread dominated by...

BUY FROM ME, BUY FROM ME.

From all the brands, diluting, any actual sensible advise, or replies to specific questions.

If you want to ask us about anything KTM feel free, until then I'm afraid we can't just wade in with suggestions.

Fair enough James, but I doubt you will find an "off the peg" electric MTB with front hub motor, however converting an MTB one with any of the kits we sell is not a problem.

Fair enough - thanks both for your comments.

Any trade members -

Where can I try large frame:

Cube reaction 29er

Haibike HardSeven SDURO

KTM Macina Cross/Action

(all price point <2k)

Also thoughts on the aforementioned pannier rack fitted on those bikes?

Any non trade members-

Any pros / cons of any of those bikes over the others

Anyone -

Anything I've missed of a similar spec and price? - Where can I test it?

Have a look at the Oxygen 13ah mtb world champion 2014 hill climber and £600 under your 2k budget.

Here is a pic of one for commuting taken from another thread, however that seat post mount won't take your 30kg without some struts to aid support.

Thanks Neal - but the Oxygen seems to suffer the same problem as the Heinzmann - I'm not looking for another hub motor.

Thanks - I'd already found those but was hoping not to have to travel for 6/7 hours to try a bike for 30 mins in wales/ up north. I was hoping that there might be something more local or someone who might know of a trail centre where I might find all these bikes!
It’s very difficult to fine a place which sells lots of different brands to compare. But it would probably be useful to any dealer making a suggestion if you said where you live.

Where is local James?

Sorry, too many threads running on a similar theme. I'll be accused of cross posting soon when all I'm trying to do is keep on the subject within the thread.

Local is Royston, N.Herts , Cambridge, Stevenage are good as they are easy to get to N London too but as we start moving further afield we start requiring a chauffeur, long train journey to get us to places like MK, Wales, Bristol, the North

The London Electric Bike Company,Hampton Wick is not far from you.

At the last count they had 40 bikes in stock.

KudosDave

Thank you

Finally, as originally promised, pics of my bike (after most of the bits have been removed).

Sorry to hear about your bike but please give your shed a bit of dollop or that will giving trouble.

it's only got the gardening stuff in - not the bike and it's been looking like that for 5 years now. (it's in a nice sheltered spot and the roof being asbestos keeps the timber very dry) - but yes it is on my to do list. (But get bike sorted first!)

Hi James,

You are looking at spending quite a bit of money, so I think you are going to have to make a day trip to do some test rides because the bikes you are interested in aren't going to come to you.

My advice for what it's worth would be to head west to OnBike, or east to Electrifying Cycles, both have lots to choose from and are good guys.

If you are relying on public transport, quite how you get to either is another matter.:(

but Wisper batteries are all located behind the seatpost - and they don't do an MTB.

any other pointers?

(I've looked and the Ezee offering (Raptor) and didn't like the asthetics of it)

Hi James, have you seen the new Wisper Range, no more bulky behind the seat batteries and although we don't do a mountain bike, we do a great trail rider!

All the best

David

Hi David,

Thanks for pointing out the wispers.

I went for a cube reaction hybrid pro 29 in the end. It turned up finally yesterday and my first test ride at 10pm last night with some god quality lights down a local bridal path that I was aware of but haven't been down before was absolutely amazing!

Not regretting my choice 1 bit.

James

There is an e-bike shop in Hitchin just where "Brookers" used to have their trade warehouse, and one in Stevenage but I am not sure if they are only an A2B specialist stockist

Thanks VictoryV, Cube Reaction Hybrid pro 29 turned up on Thursday. Its a joy to ride. I'll post a proper review wen iv had the chance to test it thoroughly.

Don't know where broker used to be, but no where they as now. Looks like you are nearby from your local knowledge?

30 years at RAF henlow now near Biggleswade, the electric bike shop in Hitchin is on the right as you approach the existing Brookers shop from the top of the pedestrian square - they have a sign board on the pavement
