broken cable help

Featured Replies

You can glue them in.

The Halls only fit one way correctly that's why they and the slot for them have a bevelled edge which means the writing is usually on the face showing outwards.

its so hard to remove them, some of the legs have even broke off, and lost the tubes for some. but its hard DE soldering them too I have not received new ones yet. will they be same as I have

The Halls should have a number identifier on them, one will have to use a mag glass to see this number.

The ss41F are pretty standard type to use on hub motors, hopefully they will be good for yours but best try to check the number on them.

Well no way do they have a number on them, as I would say they been there from new, and numbers rubbed off. the middle one was so easy to lift up but god knows how I am going to remove the end 2. as i just tried far right one and its even lifting up the metal of magnets. well if it is magnet, but I think that's on the wheel inner. I hope new ones have installation plastic on the legs, as I only have 5 so far probably 8 once i get middle one off the circuit board, so hard when trying to de solder. I do have a suction tube but that wont take it all. do you think that this board will still be ok

Getting there I'm glad now I bought mini drill and bits. IE grinder etc as removing old sensors slowly I'm using the middle one as a guide if that fits its all cleaned out ok of slot, the middle one was easy to remove, but it seems the end 2 are glued in

Acetone dissolves some glues, including superglue... but I'd be extremely careful trying it! It strips paints and protective coatings! Using acetone on circuit boards may dissolve them, but to get those components out of metal - just dab with a cotton bud and a small amount of acetone, and see if it loosens up? You might have to dab small areas and leave them for a few minutes, repeat a few times. Maybe worth a go?

Oh so you think its a bad idea, having a grommet at top of axle hole, as I thought it would help cable

I have asked Erider for another torque washer like this one, as I only have 1 on cable side, they said they will check in stock if they have any, But do you think its best to get the torque ones you said

and how do you fit those, as I can see what part go onto axle the square bit but what's other piece for or go. can you do a diagram

IMG-1811-1.jpg

I don't understand how do you mean leave a loop

the square part of axle takes a 10mm spanner so would axle be about 12mm

Worth buying:

It’s ok bud I’ve used a small grinder on them. Got 2 out well the middle one wasn’t even glued in so that was easy. So using that one as a template for others. And the right one is out now. And tried template one and it fits ok. Will use small bit of loctite to fit new ones. I did have a small bottle of isopropyl to clean that PCB of flux but buggered if I can find it now. So had to get some more. Probably other will turn up now I’ve bought another bottle lol.

No hurry Nealh when you get time. I have now today received the 3 sensors. also have cleaned out the old ones, and new ones fit ok but not as yet fitted them, as need some advice 1st. as you can see by that far left one. I lost a clear thin tube on 1 of the legs from old ones. but I cut a small piece of green sensor wire, which fits perfect. now my question is do I glue in the sensors 1st to slots, or solder to pcb 1st, as I think by soldering them to pcb 1st maybe best or would you say glue them in 1st.

Do you think this pcb looks ok or will I need to get a new one

I would be inclined to solder once they are glued in place and the legs placed through the pcb, then the pcb can be positioned and stuck in it's final position.

Once everything is set and can't move solder the legs with a fine tip.

The pcb looks ok to me and I can't see any cracks it he tracks.

I just didn't want to to solder the 3 sensors re-attach wires close up case on motor and it don't run. But then its best to just test sensors before I close case

I just thought that pcb looked a bit damaged, as I did notice a small minuet piece of copper fell onto floor. but way too small to find it seem to come off B - part

Well I've super glued them in and will leave over night then solder prongs to pcb, Im still waiting for double sided heat resistant tape then all will be finished hopefully they will be ok as will test 1st. well at least then I will know its not the sensors so can fit motor back again and wheel.

good idea that middle sensor middle prong a piece of hall wire lol fits like a glove

Well I've soldered them in, and is this hall sensor test https://ebikes.ca/documents/HallSensorTestingFinal.pdf right, as it says red+ black and yes I get about 5v then it says black + yellow black+ blue and black+ green, But how can that show any results if the red probe isn't touching the + But if I keep the red probe on + then touch black it says 5.15v red+ green=5.15v red +blue = nothing red + yellow= 5.15. so it looks as if blue isn't reading will have to recheck the 3 probes are soldered ok but I'm sure they are. although those sleeves are a bit long so maybe 1 has got to close to pins

EDIT: ok i have now checked all 9 sensors pins resoldered again now I'm getting readings from all at 5v

so will now refit motor in wheel and test

Well Bad news that hasn't gone right, as something is rattling in back wheel plus its not turning fast dam I so fed up with this thing now good mind to call dam scrap yard, but it has been running great. until it broke cable. plus also now a Allen nut has snapped off on 1 side of case but it should be ok as has 7 out of 8 probably check that later. but now have to remove motor yet again. good job I have a gear puller. Im very curious what's that rattle. but wheel isn't spinning very fast

I've just tried spinning wheel by hand and no sound of a rattle now. so why when you open throttle plus wheel not spinning fast anyway

The noise isn't mechanical, it is an electrical one.

Did the controller have learns wires ? I can't remember.

yes I think there is learn wires will look

yes there are 2 white wires what seem to join

Are they learn wires or speed restriction wires ?

If the former one has to go thru the learn process to get the right phase/hall sync once the motor is sync'd and running properly turn the bike off and then disconnect the learn wires, the controller should then remember the correct sync. If not one has to try again until it does, if you don't disconnect the learn wires each time it won't learn or if you get the motor running and forget to disconnect them it will start the process al over again.

I dont really know if they are speed wires or learn I would imagine learn I will send a photo ok

well there is 2 white and 2 orange. so if say the 2 orange are speed ones will that make moped go faster or slower not that Im going to try them but just curious

is it ok then to join the 2 white wires

Speed wires when connected slow restricts the speed.

First things first is to get the learning sorted out, each time the controller is disconnected it needs to be done.

Ok thanks for that. so I join the 2 white wires first try bike, if no good disconnect white wires. then plug in again try bike etc until its running fine then disconnect

Nearly, when the bike is running correctly switch off first so that it, the memory the controller remembers then disconnect said white wires.

so I try bike 1st with wires joined if its not right disconnect and also disconnect battery then join and start again

I just tried with white wires joined, and wheel still is same, so will try again I have unjoined plus turned off controller unless its those 2 orange wires are learn and white are speed

now tried 3 times still same. Im wondering if its those 2 orange ones for learn

4 times still same

tried now about 6 times but wheel still same as before

Nealh do you think I maybe need to get this 41F

Try the orange wires then, unfortunately with no instructions to go on one can only try.

Ok will try tomorrow. As been on bike all day need a break from it. But it’s slowly again getting fixed. As I know it will go, as if the axle didn’t rip cable it would have. Btw I have just took another image of wires and there is also a white plug with a pin slotted in. I have heard or seen on YouTube it’s to make motor run faster I maybe wrong

Well I have tried the 2 orange wires, a few goes and its still same with wheel. so I have ordered this. is this one ok as it saves messing with the pcb again, as I think maybe a piece of the copper trace has rubbed off while soldering. I know i will have to remove the sensors again, but I will try acetone this time. or should I just do what you said
