November 22, 201510 yr More importantly I hope that dog is OK:rolleyes: I hadn't seen the video. Hope the dog is ok too. Still a nice bike though.
November 22, 201510 yr I have a stunning wife so I don't participate in working class skulduggery Have you got any photos of her? I'd like to endulge in a bit of.....ahem.......working class skulduggery.
November 22, 201510 yr Author I wondered about that too, also the speed doesn't seem right for a Smart bike, it must have been something really quick like one of these http://ebikeee.com/2013/08/03/new-smart-scooter-tested-by-the-f1-drivers/
November 22, 201510 yr As the smart bike is legal it is not capable of a high speed accident, all that happened is you nearly hit a dog and you should know better or you are not as smart as you allege to be. Shared path or not pedestrians /dogs will have the right of way albeit the dog should have been under its owners control.
November 23, 201510 yr You didn't say Mercedes once. How on earth do you expect him to know the dog's name ??
November 23, 201510 yr How on earth do you expect him to know the dog's name ?? It could have been Fenton!
November 23, 201510 yr As the smart bike is legal it is not capable of a high speed accident. You can have a high speed accident on a legal eBike.. the cut out for the power is 15.5mph, but you can still go a lot faster than than. The problems with his statements are more to do with his use of terms like "designer" suggesting that other ebikes aren't designed they must just happen. and "limited edition" suggesting that the fact that they have stopped production is a positive sign or that other products are produced in limitless numbers.

Or perhaps he's just a complete arse?
November 23, 201510 yr Author Limited edition =we know that most sensible people won't want to buy one. The bike oozes class and unfortunately some people who are looking for eBikes seem to lack that, although there seems to be quite a few of these riff raff sort appearing on my threads
November 25, 201510 yr Maybe it's just me but where's the "high speed accident?" :-)) I doubt if he got above 10mph. Anyway shouldn't he have sounded his bell to give that poor pooch a chance?
November 26, 201510 yr Author I didn't sound my bell as I didn't want to startle the dog that was at the side, it just turned to cross in front of me speeding up as I approached, it is clearly the owners fault for not having the dog under proper control! Luckily I was and with my super brakes managed to stop with inly slight contact with my left foot or it could have been badly maimed at that speed.
November 26, 201510 yr The problem I have is with all the birds that flock around me when I'm riding it, its obvious that they can recognise class when they see it and want me to show them what I can do with it You sound like the inspiration for a Karen Carpenter song.. but of course you may not be old enough to remember that.
November 26, 201510 yr Author The dog owner in my case could have faced this! Exactly what I said earlier, handler with no control of the dog! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3334849/Cyclist-successfully-sues-dog-owner-65-000-suffering-injuries-including-fractured-skull-bike-got-entangled-pet-s-lead.html
November 26, 201510 yr Except that he was on a promenade that has permitted cycling rights, where as I suspect that you weren't even legally entitled to be there in the first place. Even if you did have permitted cycling rights, you had more than enough time to both predict the situation and to take evasive action, but you choose to do neither. In fact your clip shows complete and utter disregard and ignorance, poor observation, and in fact by your own admission in the thread title, you were traveling at "high speed". To end, you had neither safe control of the bike nor the situation. Beside contacting and or nearly contacting two dogs, further evidence of both lack of rider control and ability associated with too much speed, can clearly be seen at the 30 second point, when you only just about made it around the corner without falling off. You entered too fast and tightly, braked too late, loosing control and drifting wide at the exit. It would be you that ended up in court, not the dog owner, and rightly so. As a how not to ride safely and in control video, this is way up there. Edited November 27, 201510 yr by EddiePJ
November 26, 201510 yr I've only just watched the video and the lack of appropriate speed and lack of forward awareness (or the unwillingness to adapt to the surroundings) shows a poor level of either ability or attitude.
November 26, 201510 yr I concur - The video demonstrated the rider showing a lack of foresight and empathy with the dog's probable random behaviour.
November 26, 201510 yr Not so fast guys - Mercedes to the rescue!! Voila!! Mercedes Designer Stabilisers
November 26, 201510 yr Guys give him a break, hes got a MacBook on a mount on his handlebars that he watches movies on, how on earth was he supposed to see that dog in time? The cyclist should have had a bit more awareness and foresight fair enough, but the dog stepped onto the path without looking, the dog probably liked the designer Daimler-Mercedes™ bike and wanted a closer look? maybe loved it so much it wanted to lick the tyres, we will never know. It wasn't high speed, it was in a park, he almost hit a dog, it happens... How many people here can put their hand up and say they have never came close to a dog/pedestrian while riding in the park? If you guys don't like being trolled then why do you all rise to it? hes only trolling in retaliation to everyone slagging off his bike, we will all defend our choice of bikes won't we? Now, if everyone says he has a nice bike everything will settle down and you can be a big happy family again, off course im biased because I actually do like that bike, I would like it even more if they just put a decent battery and motor on it.
November 27, 201510 yr I would like it even more if they just put a decent battery and motor on it. put me on it
November 27, 201510 yr He's not very good is he,almost fell off at the sharp corner and lost his nerve after the incident with the dog. There were lots of dogs on that video and the guy looked at him as though he shouldn't be riding in the park. The number of dogs around should have registered a warning to proceed slowly, often dogs are with children but this guy doesn't seemed concerned what he runs into. Did he hurt the dog? No other bikes around and no cycle marks on the path, and the seats near to the track would suggest that cycling was not allowed. Unfortunately it is idiots like him that give e-bike usage a bad reputation and the justification of our government putting restrictions on their speed and power. Just imagine what damage he could do if he had one of zippy's 1500 watt illegals. It can only be a matter of time before he crashes that bike and hopefully that will be the last we hear from him. KudosDave

I don't think anyone did slag off his bike? He can't make up his mind how old he is,one posting says fifties but his profile says 64....strange guy. I come close to dogs and pedestrians every time I ride the seafront promenade, dogs on leads or off leads and children have a habit of doing unpredictable things, which means slowing down to almost a stop to pass them safely, never come close to hitting one, this guy could easily have hurt that dog,he may have done so and left it hurt. i also like the style of the Smart bike but it is very heavy,at Eurobike there was a bike in that style but weight of only 20 kgs...it was a Taiwanese build but at the prototype stage. KudosDave
