October 28, 20169 yr no need to boost the voltage from 8.4v to 12v as the light wont turn on otherwise. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322197597674?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=511103273577&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
October 28, 20169 yr Do you want 12 volts from 8.4 as both devices you have shown are step down, i.e. will only reduce the voltage, not increase. This will increase the voltage, but do not connect it with out a load on as they are easy to blow. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5-30V-to-4-0-30V-DC-DC-Booster-Converter-Step-Up-Voltage-Regulator-LM2587-B250-/122175575738?hash=item1c723b56ba:g:vygAAOSwoydWofWt To be honest everything looks very bright in the last photo.
October 28, 20169 yr We'll I'm not a happy bunny with the new best headlight, got the bike out tonight ready for my ride put the battery pack on and no light not a thing so put another pack on and it's still the same, so it must be the light I only got about 14 hours out of it, I hope that any of you guys that got one don't get the same problem. I have sent a email to seller so watch this space to see if they will send me out a new one
October 28, 20169 yr bugger it i thought i got it the wrong way round after i paid for it lol. the new light is more focused better lens but brightness wise there both the same. i got some 18650 cell holders coming so can use 4 cells and then use the step down converter for that. this is what the cree uses power wise Edited October 28, 20169 yr by soundwave
October 29, 20169 yr well that looks like a bomb lol 16.4v to 12v 4 cells on the other side. Edited October 29, 20169 yr by soundwave
October 29, 20169 yr cheap cell 1 amp discharge to 3.1v got 814mha and lasted 49 mins 51sec. Panasonic cell 1 amp discharge to 3.1v got 3408mah and lasted 3 hrs 57mins 55sec. that is bang on what it should be and shows how crap the cells from china are and that proves it.

November 1, 20169 yr From looking at that I think d8veh's light is brighter and smaller in size. Plus it does not have the annoying strobe function.
November 1, 20169 yr my action cam is naff in low light but it goes further than my other light. the lens is lots better tho at throwing the beam, both around the same power tho.

November 1, 20169 yr Only winding you up after all the wasted time and wasted effort you put in setting it up. Thankfully with SW on ignore I can't see any of that crap, but in any event.... I'd rather be out actually riding a bike off road at night using a reliable set up, than staying indoors trying to achieve something that can be bettered for less than a tenner. See D8veh thread starter. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/the-new-best-headlight.25228/ All that doomed effort just to ride on a poxy public footpath! Edited November 2, 20169 yr by EddiePJ

November 2, 20169 yr All that doomed effort just ride on a poxy public footpath! i took it to its limit just for you as you will never see it haha.
November 2, 20169 yr I have found trying to find and press the flat buttons is difficult when wearing gloves and continue cycling, so came up with a solution to punch/cut tiny bits of thick plastic rubbish and superglue onto the buttons. Different thickness for each button so is easy to find through thick gloves in the dark. et voila.
