December 8, 20169 yr I have these, it`s like cycling in daylight. Pop them onto high beam when a cars dazzling you and you can see them diving for the dipswitch LOL, I have a spare battery too, adjustable for 1/2 or 3 lights, also any brightness setting, fully adjustable levels. Great in the woods at night, especially in the dogging carpark, Johnny the perv LOL. http://www.magicshineuk.co.uk/magicshine-mj-816e-1800-lumens-wide-angle-bike-light.html
December 8, 20169 yr 1 cree xhp 70 is 4000lm so say under 3000lm for use in the light case i have it will be like a light sabre for 200m with the lens i have. when i get some that fkn work. my batts will run it on full beam for 8 hrs @1amp 12v parts wise its about £25 for each light minus the batts @ £20 for 4 cells.
December 10, 20169 yr this is the white heat sink glue they use to fix the leds in the lights took a bit of finding tho lol none in local b and q http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391374671450?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
December 21, 20169 yr xhp 50 11.5v 700ma see i said i never blew up the other led it just never worked
December 21, 20169 yr i think the xhp 70 is putting out about 1800lm @14.3w max is 32w @4022lm. tho you can never run them that high as get so hot so fast will go over the bin temp of 85c less you can cool it down. the xhp50 is about 1000lm @8.2w with a max of 19w @ 2546lm. that is just a ruff guess tho but shows you a 6000lm light from china even tho it is cheap it is no where near its stated output same as the fake 18650 cells. the xhp 70 led was £11.53 with lens the bike light was £9 so for £20.53 i have made a light you would have to pay a lot more money for ready made as they use these in hi end flash lights. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-AceBeam-EC50-Gen-II-Cree-XHP70-3000-Lumens-LED-Flashlight-NO-battery-/332019794206?hash=item4d4dec011e:g:vuIAAOSwA3dYGHnX £96.99 and for what it dont even come with a battery pmsl:eek:
December 23, 20169 yr got my other leds to test santa came early lol but seems i have fried the cable in the light as it could not take the voltage and now get a short when i plug it in so ill have to find one with some thicker cable that fits in the hole in the back of the light.
December 24, 20169 yr could not sleep so read the thread from page 1 very interesting soundwave. you should never test leds without heatsinking them first as they will heat the star very fast and die . it seems you guys are suffering from lack of down the trail throw you wont find it by just throwing lumens at the problem this I found out when I was designing and building mtb lights for sale in the early led days with the larger leds you get a wider flood I have lenses that will throw a 500 lumen led way farther than any of those chinese multi led lights yes I also went chasing the lupins because the customer wanted more as a selling point. and as the leds inproved so did the lumen count . but i soon realised it was the optic or lense that made the light good also as you are finding out Chinese and ebay lupins are not the same as real world lupins http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/interview-bike-light-maker-chris-hadaway-25238/ http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/accessories/lights/front/product/review-troute-spider-eyes-front-light-12-46641/ http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/accessories/lights/front/product/review-troute-liberator-mk2-front-light-11-45299/ http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/accessories/lights/front/product/review-troute-darkness-dominator-lights-12-with-endurance-battery-45758/ By the way this is not a covert add as I gave up making and selling lights when china swamped the world with million lumen lights Edited December 24, 20169 yr by trouty
December 24, 20169 yr yes I also went chasing the lupins Did you tip toe through the Tulips to get there Ebay lupins http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lupin-Russell-Seeds-100-mixed-free-postage-/201611238537?hash=item2ef0f75c89:g:lokAAOSwdU1W-lT9
December 24, 20169 yr lupins is a long standing joke as you might as well call the chinese lumens Lupins
December 24, 20169 yr Where would we be without autocorrect. Just had a mail from grandson in Arabia somewhere complaining about the humanity, he meant humidity. At least I hope so.
December 24, 20169 yr yeah they get hot fast just still waiting for some thermal paste and need to see if i can get some heat sinks cut to size for the back of the light and some thicker power cables. those lights in the links are 250-300 quid and i just can not see why they are so expensive as this light i have is under 25 quid. it has no driver but there not that much 10-20 so why these things are 300 quid a pop just seems there all a rip off.
December 25, 20169 yr well happyly folks thought they were pretty good at that time and were at the cutting edge of led bike lights . all the component parts were the best available at the time and the machining for the cases/ mounts was done in the UK We will see how much your lights will have cost you when you finally construct one you like . no rip off I gave up to avoid the race to the bottom of the quality hill which china has beaten most manufacturing industries to. Enjoy your tinkering as I still do and if you want some quality led drivers www.taskled.com lots of controlability and will monitor the battery voltages. and heat of the leds and dim down if too hot
December 25, 20169 yr the led flash light drivers will be no good as i want hi output for hrs at a time so will be a case of how near the bin temp i can get them. i have already built one and tested it just i shorted the power cable in the light. these xhp70 leds will take some blowing tbh as i got it so hot the led fell off the pcb and used a frying pan and gas cooker to get it back in place lol. the most expensive part is the led at £11.53 case 9 quid and my buck converter at 3 quid. sure it will not look no where near as good as a 300 quid light but no bike lights use 12v xhp70 leds and if they did would cost a fortune. https://www.lupine-shop.com/en/accessoires-and-parts/upgrade/1420/betty-tl2-upgrade-and-ar-frontcap now that is 118 euro and the light with a batt is 899??? for what a case and a driver. same with the batt there is not even no where 250 euros worth of parts in it and the cells cost 5 quid each x8. thats 40 quid and 210 euro for a case and bms? it just dont add up and 2 of my lights will be not far of 5000lm any way and i have a rf remote for them
December 26, 20169 yr the led flash light drivers will be no good as i want hi output for hrs at a time so will be a case of how near the bin temp i can get them. all the more reason to have a driver that can monitor the led and case temperature and cool is your best friend with hi power leds output drops with rise of temp
December 26, 20169 yr http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301792098512?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT will try that inside the light for testing, just need a heat sink to stick on the back of the light or might try fill the hole back with mineral oil as non conductive.
