  1. "We would not be allowed to leave".. em it is your own sovereign parliament which has made the decision. UK was of course allowed to leave. No one is holding them against their will. Of course this is the classical victimhood trope again. .". Mammy wont let me out to play "
  2. Do others agree with me that Andrea Leadsom is the most insipid member of the government. She has that womens institute aura and patronising tone and yet is either thick or hides behind a cloak of holier than thou....but to suggest that TM should try to get the backstop taken out of the withdrawal agreement, bet that made Juncker spill his cognac.!!!! Quote.... Leader of the House Andrea Leadsom said it would be "fantastic if Angela Merkel will try to support a proper UK Brexit by agreeing to reopen the withdrawal agreement". Ms Leadsom added there had been rumours that senior members of the German government would be willing to do that....rumours/informed sources etc, hehe !!! KudosDave
  3. as long as the consensus is that we don't leave
  4. To be fair Fingers didnt say who prevented our leaving. I think you, ll find he sees it like me, our establishment, weak MPs and remainers prevented our leaving. (If he doesnt, my apologies Fingers) Remainers have won, fair means or foul is debateable. We arent leaving. Never were. The electorate have been lied to, manifestoes ignored and our faith in the system seriously damaged. The whole episode has been a complete waste of money, time, energy and argument. Problem is as its worked out, we will never know a definitive answer. We will be left for generations with not really knowing. What we do know is the UK has lost more of its sovereignty and identity. We are just that Island off mainland Europe. Its been proven, remainers are right. We cant cope without EU. Our MPs have proven incapable of actually making any decisions. We even need EU to tell us when or if we are leaving. Its a disgrace.
  5. Behold the monster you've created....
  6. I have posted several times about medicines supplies and brexit: Brexit already causing medicine shortages at pharmacies in England Concession-priced medicine list is longest it has been since system was introduced https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/apr/09/brexit-medicine-shortages-pharmacies-england
  7. We seem to have a character who is intent on preaching whatever random irrelevent thoughts pass between his ears with no connection whatever with the thread, Brexit, or normal human debate. Times are indeed dire among the former Brexit enthusiasts.
  8. Andrea Leadsom said "it would be fantastic if Angela Merkel will try to support a proper UK Brexit by agreeing to reopen the withdrawal agreement". She is dreaming, it's not going to happen this week, not next week nor next month. JRM now expects 'fabulous opportunities for brexit ... in 50 years'.
  9. OK. Here is a technical article from the master of cycle mechanics. This will explain better than I (although I spent forty years as an engineer). https://www.sheldonbrown.com/chain-wear.html also https://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/article/bicycle-chain-wear-explained-46015/
  10. And this individual claims to have worked for 28 years as an angel of mercy? laughable. I claim for nothing whatever and receive no help, or even advice with looking after my wife who has mixed dementia, in fact since she was diagnosed 18months ago there has been a complete silence from anyone in the NHS on the subject, it's simply a case of carrying on regardless, so I am not impressed by his remarks, not impressed at all.
  11. This bike has changed my life. I bought it for £1295 from Ebikes direct, 20 months ago. I live in the heart of the Lake District, and use it on a daily basis, to get about, having done approaching 5000miles since purchase. In 2010 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. As an outdoor person and super keen rock climber, this news was devastating. Since then I have adapted, I have had to focus on what I still can do. As my walking is terrible, the only way i can get about is on my bike. Having the off road capability has allowed me to get to the summits of many fells and mountains locally. The off road power really has to be experienced, to be believed. It is easy to change between 250 and 1000w modes quickly on the LCD dashboard. The 5 pedal assist modes allow pretty much any hill to be climbed pretty easily, even for me. On first getting the bike i did 40 miles on one charge over pretty hilly territory. Since then i have done approaching 5000 miles. I didn't really look after the battery too well, leaving the bike and battery in an unheated garage nightly over winter, saying that , the bike can still cover 32 miles on one charge. These distances are on pedal assist 1, with no use of thumb throttle. I have upgraded the brakes with BB7 s as it can really take a bit of stopping.
  12. Heres hoping... Its a free hit so a bonus whatever result.. Yep, credit where its due. Poch and Spurs did well, actually more than well. Brilliant.
  13. Zlatan....you are quite right,we should develop some spline and revoke Art 50. KudosDave
  14. The difference is I do like him. His address to the US House of Congress was an excercise in measured diplomacy, saying exactly what needed saying. It was a masterclass.

Quote: e-car services being particularly very low cost. And e-cars don't pay VED (road tax), have a far larger purchase subsidy, sometimes have free car parking and charging and are exempt any congestion/pollution charges and the like. There is a large fly in the ointment here though, isn't there? For starters, how long do you think the subsidy will last as e-cars proliferate. Ditto the lost VED will have to be replaced somehow and the even greater loss of fuel duty and VAT on top of it. We already have horrible pot holes everwhere, especially on local roads. Then there is the low servicing costs which at present keep the motor trade afloat since they make little from selling new cars. And electric cars may last longer since there is less to go wrong with old age. Think catalysts, exhausts etc. Only the replacement cost of e-car batteries. Which will make the sale of second hand e-cars a problem. I suspect that we may end up with being charged by the mile to use our cars, of any sort, which could cut congestion and unneccessary journeys.
  16. What did the late A.A. Gill think about Brexit?
  17. Daniel Kawczynski MP today jumped the ERG ship...
  18. MPs voted to approve TM's A50 extension by 420 votes to 110. the number of hardline brexiteers has come down quite a bit.
  19. she is one of the unicorn dreamers.
  20. Hi Deere John, assuming that you have a five bar meter and they all decline in a linear fashion you now have a range of 350km or 217.48 miles and if you can maintain an 18 mph average it will only take 12 hours to deplete your battery. I hope you have a comfortable saddle!
  21. Nonsense, what I posted was entirely justified, and the posts responding in support show that to be true. Are the people of the UK substantially more genetically disposed to be disabled, or is the truth that the disabled excess in the UK is made up of people who could be off the register? Obviously the latter is the truth. Those are the people I'm posting about, not the severely disabled as was entirely clear, except to someone like you, seeking to use any excuse to insult. And it's also nonsense to say that the black economy is only due to migrant labour. As well as my past knowledge through relevant employment, of all those I still know working in the black economy, not one is a migrant. The undocumented cash economy in the UK remains very large, still presenting an intractable problem for the authorities. Switching to a cashless economy would be very revealing. .
  22. Come on now! own up, who turned his stone over? Here we go again
  23. I also own a Cube and if you search my name on youtube you can see a couple of recent videos I've put up about it. I do weekend tours with it and currently commute 40km to work and back on it each day. They are very solid bikes and probably the best value of the 'brands' up to £2k if you are loooking for a mid-hub motor. Recently Halfords were doing an online sale of their Crossfuse bike (not to be confused with their Crossfire one) and with discounts you could get the price down to around £1200. That has the Bosch Activeline Plus motor (ALP) on it and was exceptional value at that price. The Bosch CX engine (which you often find on mountain bikes) has more power but is noisier and isn't zero resist like the ALP is (so harder to pedal with the motor off or over the 25kph limit). It also tends to be a bit pricier. That said there are a multitude of other options that are well-regarded in the sub-£2k price bracket - just not with Bosch mid-range engines. Woosh are active on this forum and seem to be highly recommended for example.
  24. In fact quite a number of experts do say just that - but for you breitbart folk experts are fools. And congratulations! That is the first time in over 60 years anyone has treated me to "obnoxious" (I have already been called a fool many a time)
  25. The fact I do know better gives me this authority to state the obvious.. I am not confusing anything here. I will tell you a short story of three students of mine.,and showing the levels of quiet heroism that can accompany chronic illness. One case involved a student who would start the week perky and bright, then by Tuesday was looking distinctly peeky and a bit green. On Wednesday would come in wan and tired and then by Friday looking a bit green again. Despite this his attendance was fairly regular except for the late arrival on Wednesday, My role included discipline ,so I needed to question these latenesses. Of course it transpired he was in dialysis, and all night Tuesday and Saturday. One cannot sleep successfully in a dialysis ward. I am happy to say that when he graduated, I had him named Student of the Year, not because he was the academically the best but for his tenacity. Another student was habitually late, and it transpired that he had to make his bedridden incontinent father breakfast and toilet before getting into college .. Finally a third who also was cutting classes.. he "needed " a job, when I interviewed him ,he was wearing a fine leather jacket, designer boots and driving a car.... . So I do know the difference.
  26. its worth mentioning ive bought a few times off ALIEXPRESS and the item has arrived in a week. once i bought two kt controllers at the same time from a uk seller and aliexpress.the ali one arrived 8 days ,the uk seller 7 days. and that was their standard free postage.
  27. We bought our second hand Motus from that shop. We are pleased with the bike, but were not that impressed with the shop. They only permitted a very short test ride round the car park. There were a few details about the setup of the bike that were not as they should have been; understandable from an individual, not good from a shop. They did not give us the proper paperwork and details such as battery charge information (diagnostic report?) they had promised. They just seemed to want us through a.s.a.p. Quite a bit of that was our fault not theirs, but ... There was nothing major; we haven't chased them as they are far enough away it isn't worth it. Maybe when we will be nearby again I'll arrange the free Diagnostic Report and if they are helpful revise my opinion. It seems we are not alone: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/e-bikeshop.co.uk
  28. You can't say that! Have you seen how many messages we have had posted on here regarding the government's harsh treatment of disabled people. Making them take tests and undergo assessments before they can get their free money! Outrageous!!! Many years ago, didn't Germany have a policy for dealing with the weak and disabled? :-)
  29. I think Theresa May is wanting the EU to make the dirty decision for her, so that she can blame them for a long extension to A50. She wants to outwardly appear as though we can wrap everything up and be out by the end of June, but knows that is not possible. The EU know this too, and will insist on a longer extension, thus saving face for Theresa May and opening the door for her to blame them. I hope they give her the cold shoulder this week.
  30. I'm very happy with my Cube Acid Allroad 500. 480 miles so far. Seems fine both on and off road. Love the 29" wheels, ALP motor gives me all the help I need and the mudguards are effective. It really is a go anywhere bike.
  31. ...follow up to above, I have now used my new motor Q100H 260 rpm. Very satisfied! Would have gotten this from the beginning when switching from 26" to 28". Have now 1569 km on it and it is wonderful. More details about the motor change: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/switched-from-swxb-to-q100h.19102/post-469978 ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Well. Now I also have a new battery. Have worked through three (!) of those rack packs seen above. All same model but different cells. But in 10S5P setup. They last like a year before getting bad. The last one was very good, but suddenly started to die on me, lasting only some 30 km or so. Very frustrating. So this time I bought a better pack with 29PF cells and in 10S10P setup. 100 cells!!! 6.5 kg of batteries 30 Ah capacity it says. Luckily my frame with built in rack accomodates this without problem. Actually it looks ok also. Weight feels though. New pack to the left compared with my old to the right. This one has only a plate while the old has a mount. This one also has key that actually is connected to the activate circuit. And you also need to plug out the connector every time you need to remove the pack from bike. But what a brutal battery pack! Connected the charger and I thought I should shit my pants. Some power in this. It is a 50A BMS and charger is 5A with a antenna-plug-looking connecter! So I took it for commute in yesterdays fine weather. Noticed it could easily hold my regulated top speed without effort. Had full assist just to try. And on the way home I took a looong way to home. I thought the battery meter was wrong because it didn’t move. But after 50 km it started to flash the first bar. I have it setup on actual value, like a representation of the voltage in bar format. So I see directly if it starts to sag because of load. This didn’t, not even in steep uphills. Riding at assist 4 of 5. But still some way to home. After about 70 km I came home and the first bar on the battery meter has dropped. Like 25% used or something it looks like. Guess I can take long detours to home now And also, we have these Tesla charger stations where you can fill it up, a battery this size needs decent chargers (For comparison, last week I took my middrive BBS01 bike with a 20 Ah battery pack for a test ride to see how long it lasted until I ran out of juice completely. About the same ride but a little trail part added, I came 72 km)
  32. So it's now done. We won't be leaving. Time to stop the charade and admit we lost. We were never going to leave. Its time to accept this. We should now be looking to join the Euro. We have been shown to be what we are. A cowardly country now only fit to ruled. Our own government has done this to us. Short of a complete coup with the army and police on board we must now accept we are a free country in name only. We are Belgium. We are Ireland. It's time to accept this.
  33. Another thumbs up for Woosh. (I think I have the same kit as DC - an XF08C cassette compatible rear motor). Woosh are really helpful and will tailor the kit to suit the type of brakes and bottom bracket on your bike. You may need to answer quite a few questions when you order! You get a choice of battery capacities and again, Woosh will help you choose. The bigger capacity ones are more expensive so it depends to some extent on your "Range Anxiety" as to which one to buy. The kits are very comprehensive with almost everything that you need. Any extras should be under £10. I found that as well as the kit I needed - * Cable ties (a lot!). Budget £5 for two bags (long and short ones) * Some sort of flexible tube to hide any excess cable (large diameter heatshrink works well but is expensive, so maybe a really heavy duty black plastic bag). * Possibly a spacer for the rear sprocket cluster - the XF08 takes 8, 9 and 10 speed cassettes : mine was a 7 speed. The spacer cost me £2 at a local bike shop.
  34. Today I tried my new battery, took a long ride, almost 70km. That took about 1 bar on the meter. Fantastic! It is a 30Ah pack, this time a pack without extra space for controller. Only space there is cells. 100 of them! Will hopefully also last a little longer due to the extra amperability it have.
  35. She definitely won't fit!

If I was to buy the top of the range model do you think I could finally go faster than soundwave? My money would still be on SW.
  37. 1 point
Well things seem to be moving much faster than we thought. I have just been reading in MCN about three new electric motorcycles about to come out. The bottom of the range is the Lightning Strike Standard priced at £9895, 88 bhp and a top speed of 150 mph with a range of 70 to 100 miles from a 10 kWh battery. The next model up is the Strike Mid, priced at £12960, has the same bhp as the Standard but with a 15 kWh battery gives a range of 105 to 150 miles. The top model is the Strike Carbon Edition, priced at £15250, this has a more powerful motor providing 117 bhp, and with a battery of 20 kWh gives a range of 150 to 200 miles. More information can be found here. ps://electrek.co/2019/03/28/lightning-strike-electric-motorcycle-launch/
  38. Yep I think if I stick with that in mind as I am starting with the 17a supplied controller and if need be, which I highly doubt, I could go up an amp or two... They so get a lot of flack or at least they did when ecigs stated getting far too big - but now I see a lot of Youtube ebike channels using LiPo, so would these come as the Li-ion do in a case or is it DIY?
  39. Fingers will be celebrating... But nervous...Brilliant.. Great result for spurs...
  40. I think you have got it in one .. And France knows that. In fact it is now logical to give no concession of time or space, as the PM is then required by LAW to revoke Article 50.
  41. Fascinating that some leave voters still stick to the same old worn out tropes
  42. It's time to end the charade now. We knew we wouldn't be allowed to leave we just wanted to see how they would stop us. I'm a bit disappointed it was our MPs if I'm honest. Let's hope they take a battering at the next election. Can't wait to see twinkle toes soubrey on strictly and Cooper eating testicles on I'm a celebrity
  43. Rob only has a head wand that's why he doesn't offer anything to the discussion apart from nudging the dislike button. Actually I might stick him on ignore as well.
  44. This nonsense could drag on for days, he imagines it stopped back then? When we have an official figure of 4.5% and a true one over 20% unemployed?
  45. There is a strong rumour that numbers weren't helped by the Government disappearing many of the Unemployed who had health issues onto the disabled register too.
  46. I had 28 years in education/social care/civil service/health service. (Yes, in modern parlance it was a multidisciplinary effort) I can never remember visiting anyone, working with any of public who I didnt think were worthy causes for either the attention or financial help they recieved. Quite the reverse, my over riding emotion was normally "poor buggers" and "there for grace of god". Talking percentages is irrelevant. If 22% need help, well so be it. Yes, we can all read about people taking advantage in DM, but the actual cost is miniscule. For every one there are hundreds on edge of survival. Nothing flecc now says surprises me.Not sure wether its simply to knock UK or cause argument on here, or perhaps simply have a go at anything Fingers or myself say. And AK's arguments actually back up Finger's opinion. In fleccs social utopia women wouldnt have a vote and half of disabled would have their allowance stopped. That's a strange attitude for one so supportive of Corbyn.
  47. The black economy is largely made up of people from other countries. That's a completely different argument to saying we have too many people in this country who have a disability. Our way of registering disability is different to France or Germany. Do not compare the 2. It's like saying Chad has more farmers per capita than here and we need to change. It's stupid. We have disabled people dying in this country because of your views. You said something wrong and deplorable. Own it and apologise.
  48. no, it's not the government that has done this to us but 160 no deal MPs. They still try to sell the voters a no plan no deal pup. They have always known that their plan is illogical, won't stand up to any scrutiny and won't work. If no deal must be planned for, then the same logic requires that we also plan also for no deal ever with the EU after brexit. How does that work out for our future?
  49. I'm sure that is true.
