  1. Hi guys I went a little mad last week and finally took the plunge and bought a haibike sduro allmtn sl and omg boy do I love it. In the space of one week I have done roughly 120 miles all close to my home here in Ireland most rides where about 25 miles in total and very Hilly. I ride the bike in eco or eco plus only using high if I come to a big Hill and I ride up with a massive smile on my face and to my surprise after each session the battery has roughly 70 percent power left in the cell. Only one problem and it's not with the bike these bikes are supposed to save you money but recently after letting my wife take it for a spin she now has informed me of her interest in purchasing a ebike also I suppose I can't complain as at times we head out together but I guess I beter start saving again I'll post a few photos
  2. I have over 130 suppliers in China, when I first visited the country I was nervous about culture differences, can I trust these people, what do they think of me. Now,15 years later I have many friends there,I can speak openly with them, they have exactly the same concerns as us,their families, homes, jobs, losses to Vietnam, education. They are worried about Brexit, what effect it would have on their jobs, they don't have the social security safeguards we have in the UK. Mum and Dad often leave their children to be bought up by relatives,600 miles away in the west,Mum and Dad live in dormitories aside from the factories, with little privacy and send 50% of their income back to the villages to feed their child. Life is slowly getting better for them but their standards are way below that of Europe, they are very hard working and their only priority is that their child should have better prospects than they had. I really like them. KudosDave
  3. China? no, mainland Europe, yes to our factories there, I was as i used to humorously call myself the MD's Fan Cleaner. I knew the was a problem when he would ring me and start the conversation with "Here's something that might interest you." The answer expected and received was "Consider it done." And neither have I any answers, just lots of questions of course!
  4. I cannot believe the defeatist negative and frankly pathetic views being expressed now You lost a vote, not a war God help your businesses if this is how you face challenges GET OVER IT, what are you guys on Bloody hell Cameron and Osborne have got some responsibility here, they really scared some of you shitless, get a spine
  5. I worked for an American multinational that was established in this country in 1909, and in 2000 opened a "Joint Venture" Factory in China ostensibly to service the far East, quite soon goods from there appeared in our warehouse, were sold at UK levels of profit and before long the factory which spanned 52 acres and employed 1100 people closed down, alleging that energy costs had made it unprofitable, so you see. I am speaking from personal experience and not in any way influenced by anything other than first hand knowledge of the logical operations of a Multinational company I served for 45 years. I forgot to add that the Company sold munitions to both sides in World Wars one and two! and had no qualms whatever where a profit could be made
  6. They won't just move an entire car plant. They have hundreds of millions tied up in them, plus the cost of retraining a workforce, building a new factory and potentially a loss of sales. That course of action will cost thousands of EU jobs as well as hundreds of millions of Euros, for what result exactly? An act of spite? I don't think so.
  7. It's a big purchase, so probably worth travelling to test the bikes of interest rather than ordering somewhat blind off the internet. One the other hand, I bought my first eBike (a Cube) without trying it first and I absolutely loved it!

Sorry what was the question I was looking at the animated avatar
  9. Do you have to keep setting up the tripod and camera and then riding past....must take you forever to complete your ride
  10. Hi I did the same as you and spent a big wedge of cash on this bad boy and I just love it
  11. There was one other e-bike on the ride, but the lads that I was with are cruising along on these two lovely bits of kit. Other than on steep climbs, they usually always leave me for dead. Thankfully both of them had fitness issues, so I could chill for once. They are generally two very fast, super fit riders. The bike in the centre was being used for the first time on this ride. It weighs in at about 9kg! Not bad for a full suspension bike. The 2017 version weighs in at an amazing 8.3kg.
  12. Thought we'd start a thread to show you all the new 2017 things as and when we can. First up is the new Macina Frodo. Hardtail, Bosch, 27.5+ wheel size with the new WP inverted suspension forks. New KTM frames with the more integrated looking battery and motor will be arriving spring 2017, so are a good while off. RRP was set to start from €3499 - €4499
  13. Wednesday morning at 8.45 am a van arrived. The very nice man opened the back to reveal.a very, very large box. Once it was leaniing up against my garage door, I realised what it was. It was my new 806 torque. The box was undamaged and once opened revealed a very well packed bike. Even the pedals were attached. First impressions were that the bike was larger than I imagined it would be. My non electric folder is only a 14 inch frame and the 806 has a 20 Inch frame. The handle bars were also set quite high, giving an overall feeling that the bike was enormous. Once the handle bars were lowered however, it looked fine, and not too big. The bike is clearly well made and is strong and sturdy and robust. It is a very nice classy looking bike indeed. However there were a couple of problems. First, the back wheel was slightly too far forward and the chain was a bit slack. This took just a couple of minutes to adjust. The second problem was more serious. The top half of the control box holding the electronics which is the part that the battery slides Into was broken. There are two screws that screw up from the bottom half of the control box and holds both halves together. Both of the screws were broken, and the upper half of the box was hanging loose. All of the electronics were visible. Maybe it was broken during transit, but I can't see that happening to be honest. However, I sent an email to wisper support and within 10 minutes recieved an email telling me that a new top half was being sent and it should reach me this afternoon. So, fast response from wisper. Many thanks. The battery. Also needed to be charged as it was showing just one bar. However, it only took a couple of hours at most to re charge. Overall I am happy with my new bike. It is well made, looks good. The handle bars have a good feel to them. I liike the rubberized handles. The locking mechanism for the folding parts are also strong and look very durable. I havnt been able to give the bike test ride yet, but once I am able to, I will do a follow on review.

Hello all i'm Clare. I live & work in Suffolk. Thinking of buying an E Mountian bike for about £3 to 5k, but would be more comfortable at around £3k. Worried about spending this amount of money & not getting the right bike! Haibike & cube hardtail's are on my shopping list at the moment. Advice on best model for money would be most welcomed. C x
  15. Well I have done it . Following a number of views and tests of various ebikes I have ordered through my ride to work scheme a Freego Hawk. I should have it by August. Need to sort myself out with a good lock and gear for wet weather etc. as I intend to use it to work most of the year. Can anyone recommend any of the above including gloves. Thanks Curley
  16. Every anti-dumping duty I pay is to protect German industry....22% on ally wheels to protect BBS wheels,48% on bicycles to protect Derby Cycles. I am sure in other industries others can point out similar protectionism. I am a remainer but maybe we can use the threat of leaving, which could cause the break up of the EU,to get some elected democracy within the EU,Junkers is a Hitler,Farage was right. KudosDave

Only 6 pages could be a few more , avater certainly caught my eye as well. Could well be one of the best on here .
  18. I've tested a bit more and it's def connected to load /amps With no load it spins up no worries. Load kills it. Even a small bit of brake kills its (no sensors to cut it) I've used and abused for ages. I don't believe it is any fault of panda bikes. If it does need a new one a discount would be appreciated! But a free replacement would be unfair in this case Of course that's top notch customer service. Thank you !
  19. Unfortunate for me,but I fear I may be suffering a case of the kalkoff clack! I bought the bike as an ex demo,so don't have the benefit of a full warranty, besides I doubt that the matter would be resolved very much to satisfaction ,having experienced 50 cycles after sales service,i am very disappointed as the bike is well Specced and comfortable to ride. Should it suffer catastrophic failure,i am considering a Gazelle as replacement, there hangs the rub, this brand is also of the Derby cycles stable and uses the same components, and has the impulse motor. My query is that,Gazelle are offered by several dealers in the UK,has anyone had an adverse experience with this brand?
  20. We're not far - pretty much a straight line and Max 10-15mins walk. Look forward to seeing you Clare. Kind Regards Eddie Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. But it's vehicle manufacturing I'm speaking of, and that is still being shifted into eastern Europe, Germany and even Spain at times, often in ways that are not even apparent. Nissan came here for two reasons, first because we were in the EU, second because of a huge government subsidy to do so. The subsidies are no longer available of course, so our EU membership could be critical in some circumstances. .
  22. Brought myself a woosh bali (at the old price ) last week . Having a great time waving bye bye to all those bike riders as I wiz past them on the hills we have here in geordie land lol...

Hello everyone. I'm new to this Ebike world. I've spent years on a Trek 820 Mountain bike, but lately i've been spending more time on my 2016 Giant Fast Road Comax. I am looking at getting back onto a m/bike aswell & the 2016 Cube Elite Hybrid C62 SL500 29 is getting my interest. Any advise on this model or Cube Ebikes in general would be very welcome.
  24. Hi david. Indeed it was through ebikes direct. Thanks for letting me know about the spare part arriving tomorrow. Even with the problem, it is a lovely looking bike. I'm very impressed by it. I can't wait to get out on it.
  25. Hi Clara, Sorry to hear of the issues, it sounds as if the bike was a bit shaken up in transit. The new controller cover will have been despatched by now but I imagine Claud meant it would be with you tomorrow afternoon. It would have been sent first class guaranteed next day. Did you buy the bike through Ebikes Direct? If you have any other issues please let me know. Kind regards David

I don't think you need to spend anywhere near £3k, to get something that's well built and reliable. Take a look at the range from Oxygen. They are a well established company, and appear to have a pretty good warranty. A decent warranty and good after-sales is worth it's weight in gold http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/ If possible, please try and test ride any potential purchase.
  27. Hi, i'm Festivejelly or Nick for short. Thought i'd sign up and introduce myself. I'm quite new to the ebike world. I own an Oxygen MTB-X which i'm looking to sell at some point and upgrade to a mid drive mountain bike. There's so much to chose from! From Cube, to Haibike to Thron Impulse. I really have no idea who to throw my hard earned cash at. I'm a 31 year old short fat little jelly man. So the ebike is a godsend to me as it helps me go places I couldnt go. I've already lost over a stone using my current ebike, down to 13,10 now! Anyway i'm babbling, Seems to be a great community here I hope to learn a lot more from you guys/girls.
  28. Hi Curley Congrats on your purchase. I'd echo the Aldi/lidl comments. Good quality and durability for the price. Cheers Marcus
  29. That could be a disadvantage from the point of view of uniting a split party. Liam Fox is also a Brexiter but has sensibly kept that low key so might be better for unifying. In addition Fox has senior experience, having held the Foreign, Defence and Health posts, the first two typical stepping stones to the PM job. .
  30. What you say works both ways. It's of mutual benefit for the EU and UK to trade with each other. Tariffs apply in both directions, so not in anyone's interest.
  31. "Pretty dishonourable in my book, but she is now a brexiteers along with the best of them" ER, Brendan care to rephrase that nudge, nudge, wink wink?
  32. There you go, telling the truth again, consider this as a verbal warning,,, No way to make friends on here.
  33. Same here Chris, but my other half as got my old bike with the oxydrive kit on.

Welcome to the forum Clare. What will you be using the bike for, i.e. commuting, leisure, rough terrain rides etc..? and what type of frame, crossbar or step-through?
  35. Interestingly the tories are now saying Osbourne damaged remain campaign with his scare tactics. None of them seem capable of saying things as they are, everything is modified or exaggerated to further their own cause. How can they get away with it ? Oh hang on a minute , ge didn't..
  36. Come on now Brendan make allowances for an old man's odd sense of humour and smile.
  37. Easier to pick between Laurel and Hardy if you want a capable Prime Minister:D
  38. I hope so, I really don't want Johnson as PM, not now, not any time. .
  39. You could call it the perpetual motion machine.
  40. Gove has better chance of winning than Johnson. It may come down to Gove versus May.
  41. Breaking news .Gove will stand for PM That's probably sunk Borris, as I think Gove was the king maker
  42. That won't happen with a BMS. You can leave your charger plugged in to balance the pack. If you go to endless sphere you might find a charger nerd or two who watch each and every cell. You would need a charger that plugs into the balance leads of the BMS. Taking the shell off the Dolphin battery might become tedious. New technology is a battery with Bluetooth which let's you see each cell.
  43. Ask yourself how does an arch work? Then a bicycle wheel. It's very similar physics. Danny Macaskill drops 3 metres to the flat and they survive fine. The spokes distribute the loading pull push ALL THE TIME! Plus your weight, luggage and over bumps. Storing on a hook will be fine. Sent from my Lenovo YT3-850F using Tapatalk
  44. If you can get up to Hereford you're welcome to have a go on my Haibike sduro allmtn rc. You will be amazed!
  45. Good to see there's three frame sizes as well...... When i first started looking at Ebikes a few years ago, it struck me how frame sizes seemed to be limited on the more reasonable priced Ebikes, usually only one size. They were mostly always too small for me. It was another reason why i ended up fitting a kit instead of a ready made Ebike.

  47. It`s early days yet, won`t know until after a few hundred miles. One or two on EndlessSphere have a few thousand on theirs, i reckon if you don`t beat on it you can get away with decent service. If you have to stop suddenly or caught out at a junction just clik clik clik and your off in the proper gear again, no fuss. The chainline is always correct and you can always fit a stronger single-speed chain. Gear change is smoother, just a split second stop on the pedals does the trick. Only thing i`ll probably do is change the sprocket to a 18 or 16t, the present 20t maxes out too soon, prices reasonable at £7 - £10 a time.
